Acoustic Pop-Rock with a Groove!
Fran Snyder has been mismanaging his music career for more than a decade. Despite heroic talent and great performances, he always seems to zig when
the industry seems to zagnut. But who needs stardom and a heroin habit?
Despite all the mistakes, I, uh, Fran has managed to tour 500,000 miles and somehow make a living at this music thing. Fran enjoys the finer things in
life, which is to say, "he's in debt."
Fran is also the founder of concertsinyourhome.com, a website dedicated to promoting house concerts all over the world (but mostly in US and Canada).
House concerts enable the performer to connect with undistracted audiences, and homeowners usually offer a safe place to park the hybrid.
Other than that, Fran loves chocolate and long walks on the beach. Oh, and he's not a chick. (Francis is French for "masculine despite wimpy name")
You'll often find him on the sunny beaches of Lawrence, KS, feeding the seagulls organically-grown alka seltzer.
Ok... for you formal types... here's the professional bio.
Fran Snyder is a solid entertainer who can command a crowd with just a microphone and his acoustic guitar. Armed with great original songs, surprising
cover tunes, and more than a handful of humor, Fran knows how to connect with even the most informal audience.
He's played colleges, clubs, and mainstages all over the US, touring extensively as a solo act, as well as part of the "acoustic hip-hop duo" Six
Strings and Vinyl. On the mainstage, he has opened for many of his heroes, including Shawn Mullins, Shawn Colvin, Don Henley, Peter Stuart, Dan
Fogelberg, Cowboy Junkies, and Boz Scaggs.
Snyder has produced and released five discs on his independent Better Records label. He's also produced other artists like Air's Beth Hirsch (now on
Universal) and the new live disc from JPWilliams (Better Records).
Another noteworthy project is the No Hit Wonders Songwriters Tour. Spearheaded by James Casto, these four songwriters are taking the southeast by
storm. Fran has mixed Volumes 1 and 2 of their live performance CDs.
"...doesn't explore the navel too much onstage, rocks..." - Decatur Arts Festival
"...can rev it up in a way few performers can" - Auburn Moon
"...songs go beyond the heartfelt, almost spiritual." Jam Magazine
Awards
Fran was voted "Best Solo Act" and "Best Overall Performer" from the mid-to-late 1990s in Jam Magazine and Creative Loafing, and ASCAP has awarded
Snyder their "Special Pop Music Award" for four years running. In 1998, he ventured into the NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) Tour,
instantly being named the number one music act at his first NACA Conference. Snyder has since toured and performed in 35 states, garnering a
long-awaited and much-deserved national following.
